Positioning, Navigation & Timing Module

Product Description

The Nova Solvers Positioning, Navigation & Timing Module provides a highly integrated solution for spacecraft requiring accurate navigation, precise timing, and reliable attitude sensing. Developed as part of the Nova Solvers Common Avionics Platform, the module serves as the primary source of positioning, navigation, and timing information for spacecraft avionics, guidance systems, payloads, and mission applications.

The module combines triple-redundant inertial measurement units, redundant magnetometers, dual GPS receivers with differential GPS support, and an integrated Chip-Scale Atomic Clock into a single compact subsystem. The integrated CSAC provides a stable spacecraft time and frequency reference, enabling precise synchronization and atomic timing holdover during GPS outages. Combined with redundant inertial sensing and onboard state propagation, the module supports resilient spacecraft navigation and state estimation through periods of degraded or unavailable GPS.

The modular 3U VPX architecture enables seamless integration with the Nova Solvers Flight Computer / Mission Data Processor, System Controller, and other VPX avionics modules, providing a common navigation and timing platform that can be deployed across multiple spacecraft configurations.

A custom heat frame provides efficient conductive thermal management and a robust mechanical interface for spacecraft integration.

Designed for harsh launch and space environments, the module is engineered to withstand vibration, shock, vacuum, radiation, and thermal cycling while supporting long-duration missions in LEO, MEO, GEO, cislunar, and deep-space environments.
