Power Distribution Unit

The Nova Solvers Power Distribution Unit is a modular VPX-based spacecraft electrical power subsystem that integrates solar array management, power conversion, and power distribution into a single scalable platform. Designed for commercial, civil, and national security space missions, the system provides a flexible architecture supporting spacecraft power requirements from 1 kW to 10 kW.

Power Distribution Unit

Product Description

The Nova Solvers Power Distribution Unit (PDU) is a fully integrated spacecraft electrical power subsystem developed as part of the Nova Solvers Common Avionics Platform. It combines solar array management, power conversion, and power distribution into a single modular architecture, simplifying spacecraft integration while providing a scalable solution for a broad range of mission requirements.

The baseline configuration integrates solar array management, power conversion, and power distribution functions within a common modular VPX chassis, providing a complete spacecraft electrical power subsystem. Its modular architecture enables additional power stages and distribution capabilities to be incorporated as mission requirements evolve, supporting power levels from 1 kW to 10 kW.

Built around a standardized 3U VPX architecture, the Power Distribution Unit integrates seamlessly with the Nova Solvers Flight Computer / Mission Data Processor, System Controller, Positioning, Navigation & Timing Module, and other VPX avionics modules, providing a common electrical power platform across multiple spacecraft configurations.

A custom chassis and integrated heat frame provide efficient conductive thermal management and a robust mechanical interface for spacecraft integration.

Designed for harsh launch and space environments, the Power Distribution Unit is engineered to withstand vibration, shock, vacuum, radiation, and thermal cycling while supporting long-duration missions in LEO, MEO, GEO, cislunar, and deep-space environments.
