Harness Technician

The Senior Harness Technician will fabricate, assemble, inspect, and test high-reliability electrical harnesses and cable assemblies that support advanced spacecraft, avionics, payloads, and mission-critical hardware.

The Role

Nova Solvers is seeking a Senior Harness Technician to fabricate, assemble, inspect, and test high-reliability electrical harnesses and cable assemblies used in advanced spacecraft, avionics, payloads, and mission-critical hardware. This position plays a key role in ensuring flight-quality workmanship and first-time quality throughout manufacturing and integration activities.

The ideal candidate is a detail-oriented technician with extensive experience building complex harness assemblies in aerospace, defense, medical, or other high-reliability environments.

Key Responsibilities

  • Fabricate electrical harnesses, cable assemblies, and interconnect systems in accordance with engineering documentation and workmanship standards.
  • Perform wire preparation, crimping, soldering, splicing, connector assembly, labeling, and harness routing.
  • Read and interpret engineering drawings, wiring diagrams, schematics, bills of materials, and work instructions.
  • Assemble and install backshells, strain reliefs, heat shrink, cable clamps, and associated hardware.
  • Perform continuity, insulation resistance, and acceptance testing of completed assemblies.
  • Inspect assemblies to verify compliance with workmanship, quality, and customer requirements.
  • Support troubleshooting, rework, and corrective action activities as required.
  • Maintain accurate manufacturing records and production documentation.
  • Identify opportunities for process improvements and support implementation efforts.
  • Assist with training and mentoring junior technicians as needed.
  • Maintain a clean, organized, and safe work environment.
  • Support spacecraft integration and test activities when required.

Minimum Qualifications

  • High school diploma or equivalent.
  • 3+ years of experience in aerospace, defense, military, medical, or other high-reliability harness and electronics manufacturing environments.
  • Strong understanding of first-time quality principles and their impact on mission success.
  • Hands-on experience with soldering, crimping, routing, wire preparation, and complex harness fabrication.
  • Familiarity with IPC/WHMA-A-620 Class 3 workmanship requirements.
  • Certification in J-STD-001 (Space Addendum preferred) and NASA-STD-8739.4, or the ability to obtain certification within six months of hire.
  • Ability to read and interpret complex engineering drawings, wiring diagrams, and schematics.
  • Strong attention to detail and commitment to quality workmanship.
  • Experience identifying and implementing process improvements.
  • Strong communication and teamwork skills.
  • Ability to lift up to 25 pounds and work standing for extended periods.

Preferred Qualifications

  • Associate degree or technical certification in Electronics, Avionics, Manufacturing Technology, or a related field.
  • Experience supporting aerospace, spacecraft, launch vehicle, defense, or other mission-critical hardware programs.
  • Experience training or mentoring technicians.
  • Experience with Micro-D, Nano-D, Circular MIL-Spec, RF, fiber optic, and other high-density interconnect systems.
  • Familiarity with AS9100 quality systems and lean manufacturing practices.
  • Experience supporting integration, environmental testing, or qualification programs.
  • Ability to work effectively in a fast-paced development and production environment.
